Santa Monica College's Cosmetology Salon
Gain real-world, hands-on experience working in a salon setting at Santa Monica College’s Cosmetology Salon. You will learn the latest techniques and apply treatments to clients as part of the Salon Experience class. Fulfill your training hours as you prepare for the California State Board of Cosmetology licensing examination.

Our Cosmetology Salon is a fully functioning salon and we are open to the public. All services are performed by students with direct supervision and guidance from our instructors.
Please Read Before Service
- Hair: All Color Services require a patch test 24-48 hours before service
- Bleach and highlighting services are only offered in the morning sessions between 7:30 to 8 a.m
- Only Root Touch Ups and all over color can be done in the afternoon session between 12:30 to 1 p.m. (No bleach services in the afternoon).
- Perm and Relaxer clients must arrive within 30 minutes of the start of the session (7:30 a.m. or 12:30 p.m.)
- Braiding clients must arrive at 7:30 a.m. and they must come with hair washed and prepped (detangled and blow dried). Wash, detangle, and blow dry is available as a separate service for $20. Hair that is not already washed, detangled, and blow dried upon arrival will NOT be braided.
- Nails: Sculpted nail removal is a separate service with a fee of $15
- We cannot guarantee both removal and full set within the same class period
- Sculpted Nail sessions must be checked in no later than 8:30 a.m. for morning session and 1:30 p.m. for afternoon session
- Cash, Card, and Apple Pay are accepted
- ALL SERVICES ARE SUBJECT TO STUDENT AVAILABILITY
- All services are done by students with instructors overseeing their work
- Minors must be 16 years old or older to receive a color service
- Minors 13 years or older may receive any other service that does not require chemicals
- Children under 13 are not permitted on salon floor and children cannot be left unattended
