No, a degree in Computer Science is not required.  Many current and former students have used our program to transition into careers in tech.  Often, your outside experience can set you apart so don’t sell your experience short.

The recommended order is: 79A/B in the first semester followed by 79C/D the following semester.  Although not recommended, students can take the courses out of sequence.

Each course is typically scheduled for 8 weeks back-to-back —1st semester 79A (weeks 1–9), 79B (weeks 9–18); 2nd semester: 79C (weeks 1–8), 79D (weeks 9–16).

CS 79A has hybrid or online options; 79B, C, D are currently online with self-paced video lectures.

Yes.  We have shared our curriculum with 19 other local LA area community colleges.  Please discuss your enrollment plans in a counseling session.

We intend to support students wanting in-person classes as well as those students wanting an online version.

Yes, we intend to support a part-time course pattern.

Statistics or a higher-level college mathematics course (for example, Calculus).  Statistics itself is not strictly required if you have passed a higher math class.

No.  The math requirement is an eligibility requirement.  If you lack the needed college math course, your application will not be deemed eligible.  You must complete the math requirement prior to the end of Spring 2027 if you plan to enroll in the cohort starting Fall 2027.

Yes, this is being factored into scheduling.  SMC has a large international population and plans accordingly.

Yes, it will.  Cloud Bachelor graduates qualify for two additional years of OPT for a total of three years for work training.

We think it is affordable.  The program will cost approximately $10,000 for in-state students for all four years of the bachelor’s degree.  If you only enroll in the junior and senior years of college, the cost will be less.  Financial aid is available and can be used to defray these costs.
